Medical Mission Group - Surigao Del Sur Needs Your Support!

Unread post by BONSAL »

I am posting this article as per request of Dr. Herwin Villamor, which was originally published in their website........

SA KONTING BARYA KALUSUGAN NG MGA SURIGAONON MAPANGALAGAAN NA! (Your Small Contribution Could Already Make a Difference in the Delivery of Health Services to Surigaonon!)

Medical Mission Group Hospitals & Health Services Cooperative of Surigao del Sur will soon be a recipient of a donation from World Medical Relief of USA. WMR will be sending one 40 foot container van containing various hospital equipments and medical supplies. These equipments would include CT Scan, Dialysis Machine, 2D-Echo Machine, Mammogram Machine and other hospital equipments available.

This donation will be of great help to the people of Surigao del Sur considering the fact that Surigao del Sur still belong to the infamous "CLUB 20 POOREST PROVINCES OF THE PHILIPPINES". The whole province doesn't have these hospital and diagnostic equipments to guide physicians to make an educated diagnosis and wise decisions on a particular patient. Patients are usually transported to neighboring cities or provinces and will have to travel 6 to 10 hours just for these diagnostic procedures and avail of these hospital equipments. Sometimes patients could no longer make it to these neighboring cities or provinces. What compounded the problem is that Surigao del Sur has a rough or bad road network, an airport without an airplane and a seaport without a ship.

This reminds me of one patient who was transported to Davao City just for Diagnostic CT-Scan. But unfortunately on their way to Davao City, the ambulance they were riding met an accident. The driver was unharmed but the relative that accompanied the patient had multiple fractures and the patient died on the spot. But with this donation from WMR with God's will, this thing will never happen again.

This donation from WMR will also be of great help to Medical Mission Group Cooperative Hospital in fulfilling one of its missions that is to provide Surigaonon with premium quality, affordable, adequate, appropriate and accessible health care services with special bias to the marginalize sectors of our society. Since MMG will no longer be thinking of return of investments socialize rate for these diagnostic procedures could easily be done.

Before all of these could be delivered, MMG will have to shoulder the freight and handling cost that would run to about 1.5M ($32,000). Because of this, MMG is soliciting and accepting financial assistance, donations or investments from all sectors in order to raise this amount. Even how small or big will be the amount of your assistance, donations or investments, it will be of great help to the people of Surigao del Sur.

Bon,

Talk to Carlos "Bebot" Montero, who is one of the owners of Monlu Forwarders. He might be able to ship the whole container for free. He is the brother of Dr. Juan "Dodong" Montero who is also a member of Physicians for Peace that does the yearly medical mission in Tandag.
