THE IRON BATCH HOLDS PEARL (30TH) ANNIVERSARY

Unread post by kampanaryo_spy »

October 30-31 was another unforgettable occasion to renew friendships and camaraderie for Purisima School Class 1979. A time to relive the memories of old high school days with the theme: “On Binding Ties, Bridging love & Friendship, held at FMES H.E. Bldg.

A good number of attendees were noted. The group offered thanksgiving prayers at the church; after which they all trooped to the venue were registration was started and a simple breakfast of pan de sal, “american bread”, piping hot tsokolate and coffee were shared.

The hall rang with cries of delight, especially from those who now live in the big cities and had not been present in recent reunions. Sometimes the cries were of surprise upon recognizing some former classmates who seem to have, well, grown but sideways, sometimes they were of reproach at not having gotten in touch for so long.

A short but energetic remark by the class 2nd honorable mention Cynthia Orozco-Acevedo signaled the start of the whole string of activities prepared for the get together. What makes it even more exciting was when everyone was given a chance to give testimonials on what had been their life after 30 years from high school.
Simultaneously undertaken activities such as motorcade using “trisikad” around the poblacion, a visit to the cemetery to offer prayers to those departed classmates, as well as fellowship and dinner took place in the evening. There was a photo slideshow which contained and defines the historical notes of year 1979 and the times spent by the batch in Purisima School.

Galicano “Noynoy” Young was elected as President. Completing his council are the following: Coordinators:
Manila Area- Analyn Corpuz-Alarde
Cebu-Madeleine Portillo-Seclon & Emelyn Hangad-Paquibot
Tago-Rosalia Pilapil-Milloren
Barangays: Elaine Cabrera
Secretary:Nila Montero-Vasquez
Treasurer: Rebecca Teves-Espinoza

It was truly a memorable affair for all those who came. All these were made possible through the efforts/generosity of those classmates who shared their time and money in making the get together a successful one.

Faces may get older, hairs grayer and waistlines bigger but the same bond, perhaps now even stronger runs in every member of Class 1979---- the IRON batch. (Written for the Iron Batch by At-at Dolon-Pimentel)

What a wonderful display of solidarity. I felt proud and touched by what this batch did especially the offering of prayers for their decedent classmates.

Kudos to the Iron Batch much so to the organisers. Well done guys!
