Gardening: My Growing Passion

Whilst it feels like we live out in the country, we are a mere 5 minutes to the dual-carriageway and stores.Tooman's secluded privacy lies our log home in a peaceful setting next to its own stream -fed pond with lots of sunlight, gardens, and old woodlands nearby. And here, "I found my true passion. It consumes a great deal of my time, but what I get in return is immeasurable. I can work for eight hours a day.Growing my varieties of shrubs, perennials ornamental grasses, trees as they promise wonderful blooms ( I hope :-k )
My hands (and feet) are often dirty but I don't mind it as I enjoy have my hands buried in the dirt. It's the kind of work I can't wait to go to each day. It's very gratifying and permits me to indulge in activities that keep me grounded and remind me to value my good life."

For me, it’s best summed up by this quote from a gardening mentor:

“It’s very strange,” she says. “I get terribly distracted. I wander around deadheading, planting this, planting that. I’m out there for a couple of hours, oh, at least. And if I think, I think very intensely and very intently about exactly what I’m doing. I try to think of more important things, but I can’t.”
If you’re a passionate gardener too, you’ll know exactly what she means.

My hubby and I have this daydream and it goes something like this: It is evening and the sun is setting, spiking golden rays onto the crystal surface of the water. Earlier in the day, a string of floating plants and now you're watching the Golden Retriever Stitchy jump off the dock near a small flock of wild ducks that have taken up residence in the reeds.

A dream come true!

Here are photos of the pond , before( 5 months ago)....

Whenever I relax for a while in (what's being called here ) Hollywood swing, I wil call our new puppy Chester, he kinds of hunkers down and ever so slowly comes to the edge of the pond close enough for me to pet him...
