Kamps,

What a great deal of idea that is. Nanga sa na dili iton mahimo if there is a proper planning. Total laong mo dili manginahanglan nan dako na funding. But even then, if ever, we can count on kind hearted sponsors and the rest kanan Tago council na. I think what the planners need to have is to set a clearly defined blueprint. Similar to what you stated above. If ever, this idea would then underpin council’s stringent measures on crab protection, as you stated in your other post. This will then entice distant sponsors to come home and experience the event.

Very viable idea sa gayod yaon Kamps bagan.

Great idea guys. The good thing is we have all the avenue to dessiminate the festival to the rest of the world. We have an interactive & high traffic website..... we have an inquirer columnist....... we have celebrities......... we have the world's best choreographer..... & most especially we have the support of Tagon-ons worldwide.

To go into this, we need funds. And this is where we need Tagon-on Big Brothers/Sisters as partner-investors. Let me explain. In March, we'll identify crab gatherers who will join the Tinagpaya Festival in August. To fatten crabs, each of this crab gatherer will be given an area by either the LGU or the owner of the marshland. The Tagon-on Big Brothers/Sisters will provide the project funds while the crab gatherers, the “sweat” or labor equity

Cordaps, I really believe this is doable. What do you think? :-)

K-Spy ](*,) ](*,) Hinanapay kopa nan ini na pabyon. Kon wara ko mabasa an kan ABB post reply wa ko hibatoki ini na topic.

K-Spy :D :roll doable karajaw. count me as one of the investors. Manghanap pa kita nan iban na investors kon kinahanglang nan dako na capital. Padayonon ta an "TINAGPAYA FESTIVAL" para mabibohirs :D :D :roll . Hamok na interesado kay investment sa. I will take care of this....I mean, the CRAB FATTENING funds and the accommodation of judges and guests . OKIDOKI? :-({|= :-({|=

abb,

yahikalimot ako pag notisya kanimo. Last July yakabalik akon Bohol for the Sandugo Festival. Iban kon mga spouses nan mga politico nan bislig, including former governor ambing cejoco kay an ulitawo na city vice mayor iya sa anak.

isa sa mga tour sites an SAVIMA Eco Park in San Vicente, Maribojoc.
it's a 30-hectare mangrove park and one goes around the park by walking on a snaking bamboo foot bridge 500 meters long.

during the briefing, the tour guide said we were an hour late and it was already high tide, which means, we couldn't see the takla and other seafood that live in the park.

abb, by the mere mention of the word takla, everything came back to me like a dam had burst forth. i even realized i had forgotten the word takla. Has takla become extinct in surigao del sur?

and so it all came back. why, our saop from lapaz used to bring mama takla inside big kupians. i was six or seven years old when mama tagged me along to dayanga in lapaz. quilito, our saop, would bring me to the mangrove area where he would make "takla" sounds, para makati an mga takla. then in an instant, like magic, the whole place became a venue for a "takla" fest as takla responded with the same sound. adto sakpan dayon ni quilito haw hain mag tago an mga takla.

an asawa lugar yaon ni quilito gapa subo na daan nan tubig. adto tinuwa na dayon an labas nan takla.

interestingly, SAVIMA has the same set-up with the one i suggested for Kansilad. (maybe the owner can do benchmarking there, what do you think bon? :-) ) kon hunas, laong pa nan tour guide, kit-an mo tanan yadton mga aniit na gadagan dagan, even tangkig. adto sab ngadto an tanan mga traditional fishing gears (panggal, bobo, etc) to catch seafood. tapos pagka dum may duha ka bakhaw na kuyaputan kuno nan mga angingipot, prompting a japanese tourist to suggest to clone the fireflies. that way, he said, the park could be converted into a firefly haven at night.

nanga sa suhito sa kaw sab nan takla? :-D

K-Spy,

Yahooo..... hahahahahahahaha....Thank you for this welcome diversion. You made my day.

Oh man, sit. This is going to be a mouthful.

A "Bohol" memory was about to slipped under my radar but thanks to you my dear friend, it recoiled in a form of a forgotten croquet mallet and hit me right on the head. :-D

Weeks, one summer, in late 1960 were spent in Patrocinio, Cortes, Bohol to bond with relatives. Their part of Patrocinio is a hilly place where --- among tress --- timber houses with thatch roofs dotted the landscape. Water was scarce. With elevation slightly above sea level and terrain rocky, planting a water pump was not even an option at the time. My bol-anon second cousins and I fetched drinking water from a dug up spring and bathed (fully clothe) in a cool running stream downhill a good distance away. Come rain, ordinary task of water-fetching became so laborious but, like any other children, we had fun as we picked and ate wild berries (we have borumbot and tino in Tago, they had something else I can no longer remember in Patrocinio) along the way.

Now, this brings me to the bridge above where you stand K-Spy. Slice the width of that foot bridge in half, replace the matted bamboo planks with two skinny logs the size of malnourish lampposts, side by side fastened by abaca-braid, done by hand. Imagine the conjoined-sister-logs are now suspended midair upheld by bamboo poles. For railing, strips of joined (sinumpay---to make the lengh of the bridge) strong vines stripped off leaves, bound, the size of four fingers fused together. To reinforced the bridge, there were sets of bamboo poles planted along side it, and at the top of each pole, sits a wooden box to hold earthen jars (tadyaw) to catch rainwater. If it wasn't raining, the jars were kept covered with white, rim painted blue, "sartin" plates, to keep mosquitoes at bay. :-D Pero an tino-ud inday pila ka dusina an ako yainom na mosquito larvae. ](*,)

By now, you’re probably wondering where this is going. :-D The bridge, you see, is what connects the kitchen to the outhouse that rest on stilts few yards down below, but, the outhouse is standing at the same level as the kitchen. Yes, it was the shortcut, the skyway, the flyover to the kasilyasan. :-D

The house was built on a hillside. From the kitchen, the bridge started out at approximately 7 or 8 feet above ground (a noisy over populated wire-bamboo chicken coop was below the kitchen floor) but by the time the bridge extend to the outhouse, it almost doubled in depth. Suffice it to say that their outhouse, which only now I can honestly say, resembled an oil rig platform or a freestanding treehouse was the best feature of the house, at least, to me, that is. There was no tube leading to a hole in the ground so what happened to the waste material that exited one's bottom that the night before was roasted chicken on the dining table, was anyone's guess.

I like it there. The relatives lived "somewhat" inland. When we were there, we ate a lot of meat, chicken in particular. No electricity means no refrigeration. I don't recall us eating fresh fish. No takla, no alimango and NO nokos and kugita. (at the rate mollusks decompose, it will be liquid when it get there) Fish for sale were either iced over, eyes so red, deep into their sockets or salted (tinabal and daing).

What I enjoyed most was their living room lightly painted in yellowish/orange with dark wood furniture which, what seems to me, represented the inside color of gilagila papaya. And I mean it in a very nice way. :-D

I tell you :-D when it rained, I had to think twice making a deposit. :-D The twin logs were slippery as slimy eels when wet and the bagon railing sagged, rendered useless. More than once I found myself precariously dancing mixed steps of murderous tango/chacha in defiance of gravity to save dear life. :-D If only I could turn back time. :-({|=

As for Takla, we were childhood friends and knew each other intimately. :-D Sidebar, did you know that adult male mudskippers (tamasak) are jealous of their females? At all cost, they guard and keep them within sight at their dug up mud pools at low tide. I’ve seen males fight over females, they are ferocious. =P~

Kupian – kaganahi pamati-on. Hibawo kay ako mag weave nan kupian. Ikaw?

Rough week at work ---this rollercoaster market is sending everybody on the edge. Everyone's cussing--- it's funny to watch someone in their norm wear of $$$$ business suit acting in frustration worse than a truck driver. I got creamed, everyone got yelled at for no reason at all. Thank God I'm a promdi which makes me resilient. :-D This guy sitting next to me his wife got axed at AIG. He told us yesterday she was on a "chopping block". Why? I asked. He said, high salaried. It happend today. I told him that's the downside for making too much money, he didn't say a word, just nodded. We're friends so I can tell him just like it is. I added, keep the faith. When God closes a door somehow He opens a window. I can't wait for this week to be over. As I said we're all on the edge biting our nails. My clothes are limp, even they, are tired.
